The Braddock Threshing Bee (days 1 and 2)

Yesterday, my brother, Andrew and I picked up our L. friends (Lauretta, Sarena, Thaddaeus, and Andrew---oh, and their new puppy) and took them to the Threshing Bee.  They had not been to the Braddock Bee before and enjoyed seeing the machines running, and walking through the old buildings.   Thaddaeus helped Andrew help Alan with the corn-husking demonstration (using a machine that was run by a long belt that was run on an old tractors' flywheel).  After we were finished looking at everything, we spent the rest of the day at the L. girls' place, playing run-around-ping-pong; volleyball; music; and fooseball.  We talked quite late too, then saw about a dozen deer on the way home, so Andrew took it real slow and we made it back safely.

Jacob, sadly, was not feeling well enough either yesterday or today to attend the threshing bee, but I took lots of pictures, so hopefully that will be a comfort, of sorts.

My parents went up to Mandan yesterday to take Grandpa to his dialysis session, but today, my dad came with Andrew and I to the threshing bee and helped Andrew help Alan with the corn-husking machine again.  :)   The old-tractor parade was really neat to watch, especially seeing Andrew go through it on one of Alan's tractors and, today, he actually also drove one of the associations' tractors through.

It was great to see many neighbors over the weekend and friends from afar too....   Today, it was especially fun to see/be with Zach, Paula and Johanna too!  It's funny to think that last year at this time, I didn't even know who they were!

SO, here's just a smattering of the 200+ pictures that I took today:

 Zach M....
 Andrew and ?...
Oh oh!  The train came apart...
 The blacksmith...
Alan S., getting the tractor positioned for running the belt...
My dad and Andrew, running the corn husker.   They actually had to stop several times, due to the chain on the cob-delivery-auger coming off...
 CORN!
The cows would probably like to eat this...
Dana S. and our guys...
 Incoming corncob...
 The small square baler...
Paula M. with her cute braids...
 Johanna with her sporty sunglasses...
She said it tickled when the dog sniffed her ear...  :)
And----the pretty windmill, which was pumping quite an amount of water today!
I'll try to post yesterday's pictures tomorrow!

I love the view in ND where you can see so far with so few trees! Looks like you had a lot of fun! We've been to things like this around here and the tractors are usually the biggest hit at our house. Love the train!
