Fun day tomorrow! (and a fun tag!)

First, let me tell you quick about the tag I just received from Hannah... The rules are as follows:

The fifth picture in the folder was so much better, I just had to share it with you too! Aren't God's fireworks amazing???

As several of my blogging friends may wish to do this one, I'll just tag anyone who wishes to do this one. :)

Below are a couple of the pictures of the big rock-moving equipment that's been in our fields the last few days. They made a lot of progress today and it's neat to watch the view from our south windows gradually change. It's a very nice change!!!

There are 3 of these big trucks running all day--going down to Kintyre and dumping the rocks in a big pile for later use.

I'm really excited about tomorrow! After a few phone calls on my mom's part, plans were made for us to have a full house tomorrow, with around 15 people for the noon meal. The reason? Well, one of my/our friends in SD is graduating from her home school high-school tomorrow and Andrew and I really wanted to go. Mom called Mrs. Dagley to see if they'd have extra room in their vehicle for us to ride with, and they said they would, but some of the S. family's' children would also like to go, and could they stop at our place and the S. parents spend the day with my parents and Jacob, while the S. children rode with Andrew and I to join the Dagleys for the rest of the journey..... Then, Mom had a great idea and just invited the Dagleys and the S. family for the noon meal so we can all spend some time together as a group before we younger people and Mrs. Dagley head for SD. What a fun day it will be!!! When we get to the graduation, not only will we see dear RubyAnn who's graduating (and her family), but I'm hoping to see 2 of my other close friends who are also friends of RubyAnn. What a fun day it will be!!! (Have I said that before? :) )

I'm also happy because the three skirts I ordered came today in the mail, so I can wear one of them tomorrow! I'm not happy with one of the skirts, but I'll leave that for another post.....

Right now, I'd best get some sleep, as I think Andrew and I will get up and do chores in the morning as we won't be home to do them tomorrow night............... :)

  Are you right-handed or left-handed? Right handed.
  Have you ever had anything removed from your body? My baby teeth--and a wood-tick or two!
  What is the last heavy item you lifted? I wonder what the definition of heavy is?... Is it anything that's not light? Well, if that's the definition, then I would have to say the heavy item(s) I lifted last were the water pails I carried to the calves this morning.

  What is your salad dressing of choice? Homemade poppy-seed dressing. Yum!
  What is your favorite sit-down restaurant? We don't go out to eat often, but when we do, I'd have to say the Golden Corral is my favorite place to go to!
  What food could you eat for 2 weeks straight and not get sick of it? Tacos...
  What are your pizza toppings of choice? Homemade tomato sauce with turkey pepperoni and cheese on top of that--plus some black olives! What do you like to put on your toast? Butter and honey... or apple butter...

  If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die? In a way, this would be nice, as it would give you motivation to accomplish all of what God has for you to do before that time, but I know that if God wants us to know this, He will reveal it to us! If you could change your name, what would you change it to? I like my name, so would only wish to change my last name--if I got married. :)
  Would you drink an entire bottle of hot sauce for $1000? Is there a time limit on getting it down or a limit on how much milk you can drink with it? If not, then, absolutely!

  How many pairs of flip flops do you own? Zero. I really don't care for them, as I like to wear something a bit more substantial while walking around the farmyard...
  Last time you had a run-in with the cops? In a bad way? Never! I saw and talked to several of them last year when we found that lost, sick man in our pasture though...
  Last person you talked to in person? Andrew.
  Favorite Month? I like all the months of the year, but if I had to pick, I'd probably say March--my birthday month and the time of year where it usually becomes apparent that Spring is on it's way...

  Do you always answer your phone? No, not if there's something important going on... That's what answering machines are for. If you could change your eye color what would it be? I like my hazel eyes so wouldn't wish to change them.
  What flavor do you add to your drink at Sonic? I don't even know what Sonic is.
  Have you ever had a pet fish? Yes, a couple Goldfish many years ago.
  Favorite Christmas song? It would be hard to choose, but I really like "O Holy Night."
  What’s on your wish list for your birthday? A Goldfish. :) Can you do push-ups? A few... Can you do a chin up? I haven't tried in a long time, but I used to be able to do ONE.
  Do you have any saved texts? Nope.
  Ever been in a car wreck? Thankfully, no. I was in a car when it went in the ditch once (no damage done), but that's all. Do you have an accent? I'm sure to someones' ears, it would sound as if I do!
  What is the last song to make you cry? I don't remember exactly, but it could have been one of my favorites, "Trust His heart". I usually try to listen to happy music though!
  Plans tonight? Milking and then perhaps watch some more of the Olympics?

  Name 2 things you bought yesterday: Yesterday? Well, I ah, paid my dad for some fuel that he used when hauling my calves to town and for some medicine for my animals...

  How many televisions are in your house? Zero, although Andrew did set up his computer to work as a TV for this week while the Olympics are on.
  What color cell phone do you have? I haven't had a real need of a cell phone yet, so don't have one. My family let's me borrow their phones if necessary.
  What does the first text message in your inbox say and who sent it? We don't have a texting plan on our cell phones, so we don't text! Who was the last person to call you? Ryan--a guy my family is meeting in town today to sell him some of our farm products.

Here are the seven things about me that you probably don't know--although I've done a couple tags like this before and may have posted some of these facts already, so you may know them after all!

1. I just read an article in a gardening magazine about how you can grow a pineapple plant (and get a small pineapple) by planting the top of a store-bought pineapple in some soil in a pot! I'd like to try it sometime...

2. Usually, little people love to eat mashed potatoes, but my parents tell me I definitely was not very fond of them. That is, not until my best friend, Lindsey was at our house and was gulping them down with enthusiasm... I asked her why she was eating those mashed potatoes and she informed me that they were very, very good, so I gave them a try and have loved potatoes ever since! (Mmm mmm, I should make some for supper...)

3. I had to take my written drivers test 3 times before I passed--mostly due to not understanding what to do in a skid or when your tire blows... My dad took a model car then-- before my third testing and gave me a visual picture of how things would work and, after that, I passed my test. :)

4. I've never tasted coffee before and don't plan to any time soon--if ever.

5. I've been working on a king-sized quilt for about 5 years now and still have a ways to go! It's going to be a very colorful quilt.

6. I usually like when it snows, but when my dad said it's supposed to snow today, I was dissapointed as now we'll have to clear off our ice again before we can skate...

7. I have several musical instruments, but only claim to be able to play the piano--somewhat. There are 2 violins sitting along side my bed; there's an accordian by my night stand; a lap-harp by some books; and a small harmonica downstairs someplace. :) (The piano is Mom's and it's in our living room.)

Fun on ice~ (and a tag)

Well, Jacob got his schoolwork done in time for us to go ice skating! Here's one of his projects from today: (Andrew helped him with some of it.) It shows the affect of static electricity...


Andrew crawled up in the attic and retrieved our box of skates. We thankfully found 4 pair that kind of fit. :) Here Andrew's showing Jacob how tight the laces need to be... We figured it's been 4 years since we were ice skating, so all of us were a bit rusty!
This is what our "Rink" looked like when we got up to the pasture... We ran our shovels over it in different directions to try and find where the bumpy ice was and where we could go to avoid it.

We finally found a really nice spot... It took us at least an hour to get all of the snow shoveled and swept off, and now we're really hoping it doesn't snow again for a long time. :)

Finally, we were ready to do some skating before the sun went down... Here Mother is showing off the little bells that are on the laces of her skates. :)

Mother had a hockey stick that the boys made for her quick before we left home, but she decided the broom worked better!

After Mom went to the van to warm up, we three went over into the snow-covered ice and tried to play Fox & Goose. It didn't work the best though, because we didn't really have enough players...

We had so much fun and hope to go again real soon!!!

When we got home again, it was time to make supper. Dad arrived home from trucking shortly after we returned, so we fried some eggs and had an easy supper--plus the pumpkin pies I had baked earlier...

And, that was our day.

While I was in Montana, two people "Tagged" me, so I thought I'd work on these as I have time. Thanks Hannah for sharing this set of questions~


1. Do you like to write?
~Yes, I've enjoyed writing to friends for many years already and now I enjoy writing on my blog as well. I've started several books too in years gone by, the longest one made it to the 4th chapter!

2. Favorite books?
~As my favorite books are written in my profile, I thought it would be quickest to copy and paste that list here: the Bible, Morning and Evening, Stepping Heavenward, The Basket of Flowers, Hinds Feet on High Places, Before you meet Prince Charming, Paula the Waldensian, Henry and the Great Society, Journey of the Heart, Fascinating Womanhood, books by Christmas Carol Kauffman, Pollyanna, Heidi, Hansi, plus many more! Our friends, the Stovers have gotten us interested in Ballantyne books, so we've been reading and enjoying those as a family now.

3. Do you compose music/write songs?
~I've tried a few times, but all I can think of when trying to come up with an original melody is another song that's already in existence!

4. Do you like poetry?
~Yes, very much--if it's done well and is about a worthy subject. I enjoy writing poems of my own too...

5. Love someone so much who made you cry?
~My Savior, my parents, my siblings and a few dear friends.

6. Broken a bone?
~"Never. I drink raw milk."----This was Hannah's answer, but as it fits me so perfectly too, I thought I'd use it also. (Hope you don't mind, Hannah. :) )

7.Been in a police car?
Not that I remember--unless we had a field trip to the police station when I was little...

8.Been on a boat?
~My brothers & I used to raft a lot in the creek when we lived on our other farm. Other than that, I think the only other times I've been on a boat were: when our family decided to go on the Ferryboat many years ago as a birthday treat for one of us, and the time when Dad & I were in a paddle-boat race at a family camp many years back.

9.Fallen asleep in school?
~No--How can you fall asleep when you're thinking?

10. Did you sing today?
~Yes... My brothers and I usually sing while we're milking (I think we did this morning too,) then I was singing on the way home from taking Dad & Andrew to the combines this afternoon, and I was just singing "Silent Night" with Clyde Bowman and his wife on their CD while making Sour Cream Raisin pie!

11.KFC, Popeyes, or Church's?
~I'm assuming KFC is chicken, and I know I've had fried chicken before, but I'm not sure if it came from that place or not. As for the other two options, I have never even heard of them!

12.Chick-fil-a or What-a-burger?
~A what? Our own home-raised beef or chicken is fine with me!

13.Starbucks of McCafe?
~I've never tasted coffee, so wouldn't know which I'd dislike more. :)

14.What's your favorite time of year?
~It's so hard to chose! I really like Spring because of all the new life and the joy of having warmer days, but then I also really enjoy Fall, when we are able to slow down a bit and enjoy the fruit of our labors. Winter's nice too, as there's more time to visit people (when the roads are good) and there's more time for writing, sewing, etc... Then there's Summer--which is nice in it's own way, but is especially nice because that's usually when there are picnics, weddings, Prairie Days and such to attend... I'm glad we have such definite seasons here in North Dakota!

15.Do you ever talk to yourself?
~Not that I'm aware of. :)

16.Do you have a favorite treat you like to buy on occasion?
~Ummm... Yes--for birthdays we like to buy cheesecake ingredients--including cherry pie filling!

17. Do you believe the Bible is the literal Word of God and is infallible?
~Yes--Most definitely.

18. What's your favorite sport?
~I know very little about sports and have hardly played any, so can I count Foosball as a sport? :) (or Boccee or Croquet?)

19. What color is your ipod?
~I don't have one--so you could say it's a nice shade of invisible...

20. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
~There are two places that I'd really like to see sometime--one being the ocean and the other, "The House on the Rock".

21.If you could go to any fictional place, where would you go?

~A fictional place? Well, the nicest fictional place to go to--that I can think of currently, would be to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory--to see his chocolate river. :)

22.Do you love to write or do you just like writing? Or do you write at all?
~This resembles the other question about writing! I guess I would say that I like writing, but don't get those moments that Mother talks about where she just HAS to write, (she LOVES to write!)

23.What do you want to be when you’re a grown up?
~I guess I'm about as much of a grown up as I'll ever be already! My dream though, like many other young women, is to have a home of my own (meaning a loving husband, many children, animals and a large garden... :) )

24.Favorite animal?
~I like many different kinds of animals, so it would be hard to say what my favorite is. Dogs and cows rank at the top, and I think pea-fowl are very lovely, but we've never raised them. Geese are nice to look at too, but they do make such a mess of their water!

25. Favorite song?
~I really like the hymns, "All things bright and beautiful;" "For the beauty of the earth;" and "Be Thou my vision," although there are SO many nice songs out there! For my high school graduation, I learned and sang, "I'll walk with God," so that's one of my favorites now too. Oh yes, also "His eye is on the sparrow..."

26.Do you like school?
~I remember some times when I really didn't like school and then I have good memories about school too. I do enjoy learning more now that I'm out of formal schooling and can research the things I'm interested in more.

27. Are you a people person?
~A social butterfly I am not! I do enjoy a good conversation with a friend though. :) I admire people who can just come up with things to say at any given moment--to anyone and everyone they come into contact with...

28. Do you like to talk?
~I'd rather listen......

29.Favorite food?
~Tacos are very delicious... I'm not sure if they're my favorite food or not, but I like them a lot!

30. Hobbies?
~Blogging. :) (Plus a few other things...)

31. Favorite author?
~I can't really say that I have one favorite author, as there are so many good ones out there. So, I guess the authors of my favorite books (like: Hannah Hurnard; Helen Andelin; Christmas Carol Kauffman...) would be my favorite authors.

32. Favorite weapon?
~ I don't see how Hannah's answer could be any better, so I'll just agree with her:

~I'm enjoying it~

~I don't imagine I'd like these movies, and I don't really intend to ever find out.

~Bulls.
Also, I used to be VERY scared of playing music or singing in public, but God's helped me a lot with that and it only makes me a bit nervous now to do those things...

36. Favorite flower?
~I think almost all flowers are beautiful, but my favorites are Pansies.

37.What is the expression on your face?
~A sleepy one.......... :)

38. Color of your eyes?
~A nice, greenish-brown color that I inherited from my dad.
