My dad spent the whole day cleaning and then hauling grain for several different people...
My mom worked around the place a bit and then had to take a nap because she/they stayed up so late visiting last night...
Andrew cut hay for most of the afternoon and then looked on-line for some GI slings for our rifles...
Jacob and I worked on apples. We made apple sauce; juice; fruit leather; and rings...
Millie (our dog) behaved herself and left our one kitten alone all day!
And now, for the pictures of my uncle Russell and aunt LV's visit.........
This one is of my mom and LV in our garden. The Delzers had brought a lot of fruit for our family, so we sent them home with a seat full of vegetables in appreciation. (We would have done so anyway really!)
The guys under the trees--my dad on the left and my uncle on the right...
As is clear from this picture, it was VERY windy out!!! Both aunt LV and I were having fun with trying to keep our hair out of our mouths. :)
Ah--this picture is of some relatives of mine showing off some zucchini baseball-bats?
Andrew brought out his dirt-bike to show to our uncle...
After supper, aunt LV joined us in the barn for chores. She had never touched a cow or calf before, so we were having fun watching the joy she found in these new experiences!
Overall, it was a nice visit, as we got to know our relatives a bit better. Aunt LV promised to send us some of her kind of egg-rolls (she had a fancy name for them, but I can't think of it now for anything...) and the recipe for the filling she puts in them, so that's something to look forward to. She's a very talented cook, so I'm sure they'll be good!

Sounds like you all enjoyed yourselves! :) Wow! Those zucchini are HUGE! I grew some rather large ones, but yours are far bigger! Lol! That would make a TON of zucchini bread! ;) Lol!
Thanks for sharing all the pictures! Let us now if you like the egg roll things, our family loves egg rolls and stuff like that! :D Yummy!
Love and Hugs!

I love the pictures Cora--especially the one of your papa "Armed and dangerous." :)
You made the day exra special with your sweetness. To quote Henry in THE INHERITANCE, "That same sweetness has blessed me every day."
Mom
Those zuchinni ARE big. :-) We planted a lot but none of it came up so I assume the seed was bad.
If Andrew hasn't found slings already, one good place is http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MGR015-1.html. Also FYI, we will be bringing three spare .22s and slings down with us so if you know anyone that needs to borrow a rifle, we'll have a few to share!
Rachel~
Yes, I'll be sure to share the recipes (for the egg-roll things and the filling :) when I get them. And, about the zucchini--yes, they are so big and we have way more than we need, so the goats have been enjoying some of them. :)
Thanks for the comment and I was glad to learn (on your blog) that you're feeling better now! I'm still praying for you~
Mother B~
Thank you for your comment! It's always special to get comments--even from people who live in the same house with you--people who could just tell you in person what they think of your post! It's just not the same thing though, is it? :)
Jonathan~
Thanks so much for the link to that site! Andrew did find some slings for sale on the Appleseed website (at their store), but we haven't placed our order yet, so I'll be sure to show him the other ones when he gets in for supper.
Your willingness to share .22s with needy people is SO wonderful, as just today we had a friend write us and ask if there would be a gun that their daughter could use, as she'd like to come, but they don't own any guns! Also, my mom and I have been wondering what we'll shoot with, (our guns would slow us down a good deal) so if we don't get something figured out before Oct. 3rd, your rifles would be an answer to prayer. Thanks again!
Oh yes, if you'd like to take some zucchini home with you when you're here, you'd be much more than welcome to!!! The seeds are open-pollinated, so you could save some for next year's crop of baseball bats. :)
Ha, ha! I love the contrast between your dad and uncle. ;)
You guys work so hard.
sounds fun! wow, yeah, those are some monster zucchini! :-) Do you make zucchini bread with them? thats usually what we do with our huge ones.
Yes~ Fresh loaves of zucchini bread coming up... :)
