This is supposed to be Patty Pan squash, but it obviously isn't! Does anyone know what kind of squash this is and what would be the best way to cook it?

They are building a really large swing set--using telephone poles! Here my dad is marking the spot to start digging...

The guys had a great idea for a way to make the "Rope" for the swings, but I'll tell you about that another time.
We found this old hat while cleaning out my grandma's things. I like old hats so much and wish that they were in style nowadays. ~

The guys had a great idea for a way to make the "Rope" for the swings, but I'll tell you about that another time.Mother spent the afternoon and evening in Bismarck, doing sessions; visiting our neighbor in the hospital; and going to practice with her friends. It was dark when she came home and, about 3 miles North of our place, she came upon 2 yearling steers by the side of the road... Just at the last possible minute, one of the calves decided to dart in front of the van! Mother stepped on the brakes and just bumped him lightly with the front of the van. Praise God that nobody got hurt!
And now to close, I thought I'd share a couple of pictures that I took of myself recently. Most of you know what I look like, but a few of you I've never met, so I thought I'd post these so you can see the face behind the camera. :)

Thanks for your thoughts on the squash... I also thought perhaps it was spaghetti squash, but now I don't think so, as we planted spaghetti squash this year and those plants are the creeping kind. The mystery squash is on a bush--more like a zucchini, so I don't know what it is?
I will be sure to give Mother your greeting.

A few years back we would plant two different types of squash in our garden, spaghetti and zucchini. They would cross breed. Our zucchini would be big and green on the outside, shaped like a spaghetti squash. The flesh inside would be white and spaghetti like. Maybe your plants have cross bred. It seemed to us the spaghetti squash had stong genes! Your garden looks lovely. Our cat, Mario, likes to hide in the corn. Then he will jump out and scare me.

Thanks for your thoughts, Kimberly! I suppose that could be what happened--although our zucchini seem perfectly normal? I guess we'll eat it, no matter what kind of mixed-up squash it is. It's just a little frustrating, as this is the 2nd year I've ordered "Patty Pan" squash seeds from this same company and I got this same squash as a result last year too.
That's funny about your cat. I'm glad Max is content to remain in the shade instead of jumping out at us! :)
Hi Cora! What a lovely garden! My zucchini plants didn't grow like that, that's funny...it kind of spread out all over the ground, not up like that! =:O But hey have been producing great zucchini so, I'm not complaining! =;)I have no idea of what that type of squash/zucchini thing is...it's only my first year of gardening. But I am glad I read that tip about the zucchini and the spaghetti squash! I'll have to watch out for that if I plant some of those next year! =;)

The "mystery squash" looks a lot like Middle East Squash. There's a more technical name for it, but most everyone calls it Middle East. Here's a link, with a picture of some Middle East.
