Fun on ice~ (and a tag)

Well, Jacob got his schoolwork done in time for us to go ice skating! Here's one of his projects from today: (Andrew helped him with some of it.) It shows the affect of static electricity...

Andrew crawled up in the attic and retrieved our box of skates. We thankfully found 4 pair that kind of fit. :) Here Andrew's showing Jacob how tight the laces need to be... We figured it's been 4 years since we were ice skating, so all of us were a bit rusty!
This is what our "Rink" looked like when we got up to the pasture... We ran our shovels over it in different directions to try and find where the bumpy ice was and where we could go to avoid it.

Jacob & I...

We finally found a really nice spot... It took us at least an hour to get all of the snow shoveled and swept off, and now we're really hoping it doesn't snow again for a long time. :)

Finally, we were ready to do some skating before the sun went down... Here Mother is showing off the little bells that are on the laces of her skates. :)
"Hit it, Jacob!"

The boys...

Mother had a hockey stick that the boys made for her quick before we left home, but she decided the broom worked better!
After Mom went to the van to warm up, we three went over into the snow-covered ice and tried to play Fox & Goose. It didn't work the best though, because we didn't really have enough players...
We had so much fun and hope to go again real soon!!!
When we got home again, it was time to make supper. Dad arrived home from trucking shortly after we returned, so we fried some eggs and had an easy supper--plus the pumpkin pies I had baked earlier...
And, that was our day.

I received this tag from Grace and thought I'd do it right away, before I forget... Thanks for thinking of me, dear Grace!

Good morning Cory! (I won't call you that again!):)

Dear Miss Cora,
I had fun reading your tag!
That ice rink looks so fun!
How far away is it from your house?
It looks far!
Your mother's skates are really nice.
I wish I could join all of you next time!
Have a great day in the Lord!

Oh your ice rink looks like SO much fun!! I have not been skating for a long time either. Your pies look really nice. My dough was not working very well for me but it tasted very good! I had fun reading your tag!

I loved all the pictures of the skating especially the ones of your mother. She looks so happy! How nice that she goes skating with you. And I think I would rather use a broom, too!

The pies look good! What a nice treat to have ready for you father.

If I get a chance (and I remember) I will do the tag.

Thank you, one and all, for your comments once again!

Kimberly~
We were surprised that Mother'd want to join us on the ice, actually, but pleased!

I would enjoy seeing your answers to the tag if you decide to do it...

Hannah~

I'm glad to hear your pies not only looked good but were tasty too!

Miss Liza Beth~
I appreciate that you'll never call me such a silly nick-name again. :) (Although this time it did make me smile!!!!!!!)

I wish you could join us for skating. I know you'd have fun too... The rink is about 5 miles north of our farm--in our pasture--so it's not really nearby, but not terribly far away either. The boys want to go skating again today, but it is pretty cold and windy, so I don't know if we'll go or not.

Cora, This looks like such good fun!! I'm enjoying seeing all this snow - especially as it's summer over here in SA and so hot!
Was wondering if you have snow throughout the winter or just for a spell?
Enjoy!
